YES!! We’re leaving for Hawaii! Our first stop. Maui. From the airplane all I see is prestine blue water and green mountains. Green like a green that I’ve never seen before. It was so lush in green it was unbelievable.
We woke up around 6am to catch our flight out of LA at 8. After the 6 hour flight with hardly any breakfast it was time to find something to eat. And this is when we figured out the price of food was pretty high. We ended up buying some island style burritos from a food truck than went to the gas station down the street to buy a gallon of water. You would never guess how much a gallon of water was. $6.95. For a gallon of WATER! It was more expensive then the gasoline!! We knew we were in for it and about to spend a ton of cash. Especially that we don’t have Roo, so we can’t cook on the road and what not.
We then took off! First stop was Haleakalā National Park. Very scenic drive to the top of the mountain. Pretty stunning views at almost 10k feet above sea level. We were above the clouds!!
From there we hit it to the south coast. We’re trying to bang things out here for the reason being we do have 6 nights on Maui, but 4 nights will be at hotels. I’m not complaining about being at the hotels but the gig that Bianca is running we will pretty much be at the hotel all day and all night for filming.
So we hit the south coast and travels up to the road to Hana. Which is now my most favorite road in the U.S. It took the title holder from the PCH, which will move down to second place.
The road to Hana was absolutely stunning. With cliffs/mountains waterfalls to your right and jagged coastline/ocean to your right. Amazing. And with I would say 60% of the road is one land but 2 way traffic. You have to squeeze to the edge of the cliff to allow the other to pass.
It was sunset time and scrambling looking for somewhere to shoot. I have a point on my map so we head there. We get there and for some reason there was nothing there. Now we’re running low on time as it’s golden hour and the sun is about to set. It was like 75% overcast so golden hour wasn’t to golden. So I look at my map app again looking for a place. I find a place that seems kind of interesting but upon arrival you have to hike 3 miles or so to get there. Shuck we wouldn’t have enough time. Quickly I find another beach. Wasn’t to thrilled for it by the pictures on the map, but when we got there it was definitely worth it. Purple hues in the clouds like I’ve never seen before.
Tonight was the first time for both of us that we were going to try couch surfing. For those of you that don’t know what couch surfing is, it’s a website where hosts sign up to allow travelers to stay at there house for no cost. Generally they like to hear stories of your travels and what not. This is what we had planned on doing for the time we did not have a hotel.
As we didn’t know how it worked our selfs we brought a pizza home to share with the host as a thank you for hosting us. We hung out at Jonathans house talking about our travels and what we do.
Next morning it was time to catch sunrise then hitting a sailboat/snorkeling tour! Sunrise was spectacular! The colors were just surreal. Take a look for your selfs. Pictures do not due justice.
We’re on a boat! A sailboat that is. We sailed an hour or so to a creator island called Molokini. Snorkeling there was like swimming in a fish tank. The water was crystal clear and full of coral and colorful fish. I mean everywhere! We sailed with Sail Maui and I would highly recommend doing there snorkel Molokini tour. Check out our vlog there’s a little snippet of the snorkeling tour there. (There was a lot of footage in maui so heres part 1, and part 2)
Back on land it was fine to go sight seeing again. Found some sunflower fields which was pretty cool.
Checked out Ioa valley. Pretty epic scenery.
And a bunch of other places. I loved Maui because everywhere you looked were jaw dropping scenes. Just amazing.
It was time to say our fair wells to Jonathan and time to check in to our first hotel. The Fairmont. The Fairmont was located in the fancy side of town called Wailea. The south side of the island. This is where all the high end hotels and house are.
It had to be the nicest hotel I’ve ever stayed at in my life. They truly out did them self’s for our stay there. We were treated like kings and queens. In this vlog you can find a snippet of the Fairmont and our gorgeous room. We definitely had a great time here.
Next stop was our second hotel. Napaili Kai Beach Resort, on the east side of the island.
This was more of a family oriented, hotel. It was also beautiful and staff very helpful and friendly. This one worked out because it had a full kitchen and everything to cook with. Except the food of course. Food was still a bit pricey. We paid 7 bucks for 12 eggs. Yikes. I remember back in Kentucky or Tennessee we paid once .26 cents for 18 eggs! Insane.
Also if you watched the vlog yet you’ll see our stay at the Napaili Kai.
All in all we drove around the whole entire coast and visited everything we wanted to see. I was in love with this island.
Next island on the list is the Island of Hawaii, aka Big Island. When we got to the airport and saw what we were flying in to get to the big island we knew it was gonna be an adventure for sure.
