So we left Utah and are heading cross country. But wait, now our side sliding door broke! It won’t close! And a few days before the door breaking our windshield broke! We had got hit by a few rocks when we were in Texas a few months back but it never cracked completely. It just left like a dime size spider web crack. Now its stretching across the whole windshield. The windshield is no big problem but having a sliding door that won’t close can be bad. It seems to be that the middle roller broke and its not letting the door close all the way.
I had to take some wire I had in the tool bag, and tie it in a way so that the door doesn’t slide open while driving. This happened while we were in Aspen Colorado. While leaving this gorgeous place we found out the door was not closing.
We really didn’t feel safe having a door that didn’t close. We leave our van alone a lot of time and not having a lock on the door worried us. Luckily I have a cousin that lives in Colorado. So I ordered the part to his house drove the 4 hours to his house and waited for the part. Once it came in and realigning the door we finally got it to close! Onward!
So now we are headed to Indiana. We found out the hard way we went at the wrong time. In the middle of a heat wave! It seems that we cannot escape the heat! A few months ago we couldn’t escape the cold and now we can’t escape the heat. This heat is different out here because the humidity. Sweating my ass off! I look at the map and weather radar everyday to try and find the coolest place too spend the night. But its been averaging 85*F at around 9pm, and not going into 79*F until 1am or later. Yeah, Ive had trouble sleeping. I DONT LIKE THIS HEAT! much rather have it freezing.
But anyways we made it to the backyard roller coaster. The owner/builder was super cool! He built it all by himself in a year-1.5 years. I was really impressed. It wasn’t to big. He said top speed is around 25 mph, but it has a loop! You go upside down!
So no we are waiting in the area because Bianca has a gig in Indianapolis on July 1st, and possible another on June 28th in Cincinnati. So time to embrace the heat!
We have been hanging out at either public library’s, or barnes and nobles to work on the computer and chill in the A/C!
